Surgery

Alameda Hospital offers a full range of surgical procedures including laser and laparoscopic procedures. Surgeons, anesthesiologists and surgical staff are available 24 hours a day.

Short-stay surgery is for patients whose surgery is performed on an outpatient basis. Friends and family are welcome during preparation and recovery.

About 4,000 procedures are performed each year, ranging from serious cases to elective outpatient procedures.

The most frequent outpatient procedures are orthopedics, general surgery (hernias, laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, soft-tissue excisions such as breast biopsies) and ophthalmology (cataracts).

All patients scheduled for elective surgery are interviewed by an RN and examined by an anesthesiologist. All patients receive individualized teaching to identify and meet their particular needs.

A pre-op nurse guides each patient through every step.

We have bilingual capability with interpreters to assist patients before and after the operation. We also offer interpretation for the deaf.
