The field of sports medicine has a broad focus of helping individuals recover and return to healthy and active lifestyles. This includes both the competitive athlete as well as those who are involved with recreational activities. A large number of common sport injuries can be treated without surgery but it is important to make sure that the proper non-operative rehabilitation protocol is implemented. The Bay Area Bone & Joint Center follows the protocols developed and put forth by Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. In addition, it is important for Sports Medicine surgeons to stay on the cutting edge of novel advancements in operative techniques and procedures.
